Unity with God’s Plan

“The safest place to be is in the will of God.” Wow, I feel strongly about this statement because in my

opinion it unifies a believer with God’s purpose for life. Furthermore, it embodies everything we

propose to accomplish. And oh, how peaceful the journey would be when we remain in the will of the one who created us. Let’s check out Romans 12:1-2 for clarity:

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice,

holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be

transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is

good and acceptable and perfect.” (NIV)

In Verse 1, “Presenting your bodies as a living sacrifice” means to commit to spiritual worship mind, body and soul. In other words, Christ has to become valuable to you, like air is to your lungs. Spiritual worship requires using your mind, heart and bodies to express God’s worth to your life and all he has become for us in Jesus, who is our example for Christian living. The examples illustrated in the bible by Jesus teaches us how to live and love. For instance, there is a way to perform on your job that expresses how you value God, and his son Jesus in your life. Scripture says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. Do your work willingly, as though you were serving the Lord himself, and not just your earthly master. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people (Colossians 3:23).” That is beautiful, to be in harmony and unity with the one who made you. Gotta love it!

In Verse 2, Paul instructs us to “Not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by renewal of the mind…..” which is how we turn our life into spiritual worship. It’s a mind thing. You know how Pastor will say to us “change the way you think, your perspective on life, and how you view the glass whether it is half full or not, then your actions will follow?” Well, transforming your mind begins the same way but with focus on Christ and his divine plans. When you think on the things that are valuable to Christ and God, they become valuable to you. As a result, your behavior will exhibit a God focused mentality. Eventually, whatever you do or say will be secondary and pre-approved on whether the spirit of God is encouraging you to do this or that, to say this or that, or to do nothing at all but be still and silent. The goal is to turn your entire life to worship. Not just on Sunday for a few hours, but every day.
