Desktop Devotional: Eighteen

(Matt 7:7) I learned from my devotion that prayer is about persistence.  We must incorporate faith in our prayers in order for them to be consistent and effectual.  When praying, don’t be motivated by what you don’t see.  Believe that your prayers will come to fruition (Mark 11:24) “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”  Don’t beg when you pray, but pray from a position of victory and thanksgiving.  Never accept thoughts of defeat or despair because this hinders your prayers.  Why?  Well, it’s like asking mom for a piece of pie before dinner, but telling her “no thanks” before she can cut you a slice.  When you don’t believe what you are praying for, your prayer dissipates as to become a vapor before it can even make it to Jesus to intercede to God on your behalf.  This is the importance of faith.  The enemy would love to discourage you from what God desires for you to have.  So, if despair does come while you pray, pause and ask God to help you through the low moments in life – for they will not last.  (Psalm 30:5) “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”
